Questions, answered plainly.

The basics

What is Alwen?

One memory for every AI you work with. Your notes, rules and decisions live as plain text in a private repository: in your own GitHub, or kept by Alwen for you. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and Grok Bot read it before they answer and write back what they learn, and you can add to it from Slack, Telegram or Discord.

Do I need to be technical?

No. Sign in with Google, let Alwen keep your memory, connect each tool and keep working. No GitHub account needed. Three developer tools — Cursor, Claude Code and Codex — take one command or click, and Alwen shows you exactly what to do.

Is Alwen another AI assistant?

No. Alwen doesn't replace the tools you use; it gives them one memory. In Slack, Telegram and Discord, @alwen decides and hands work to your agents, but it never does the work itself — no browsing, no terminal, no code.

What does “still true?” mean?

Notes go stale. When a note hasn't been touched in a long time, or something newer contradicts it, Alwen asks you whether it still holds. You answer yes, update it, or archive it. Nothing is deleted.

Your data

Where is my memory stored?

Your choice. In a private repository called alwen-vault in your own GitHub account, or in a private repository Alwen keeps for you, which only Alwen's systems can open and you can download any time. Alwen also keeps a search index and a record of its jobs on its servers, so your tools get fast answers. Both can be rebuilt from the repository. How we keep it safe.

Can Alwen see my other repositories?

No. In your GitHub, Alwen only gets access to the one repository you pick.

Does Alwen ever delete anything?

No. Every change is a commit you can undo. When a note looks out of date, Alwen suggests archiving it, and you decide.

Are my notes used to train AI models?

No. Alwen doesn't train models on your notes. To decide and tidy up, Alwen sends only the notes it needs to Claude through Anthropic's commercial API, which by default doesn't use inputs or outputs to train models.

What happens to my memory if I leave — or if Alwen does?

In your GitHub, it stays where it is: plain markdown. Disconnect Alwen and the repository is untouched. If Alwen keeps it for you, download a copy: the same plain markdown, as a zip. The rules files Alwen compiled for your tools — CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, .cursorrules — keep working on their own.

Can I edit the vault by hand?

Yes, in any editor or in Obsidian. Push your changes and Alwen reads them. When your edit and Alwen's disagree, yours wins.

Tools

Which tools work with Alwen?

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Mistral Vibe, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, Grok Bot, Viktor and Hermes Agent, and Slack, Telegram and Discord — plus Obsidian or any editor for reading the vault yourself. See every integration.

How does a tool get the memory?

Through MCP, an open standard many AI tools support. Each tool calls Alwen to search your notes, read your rules and save what it learns. The tools it can call.

Can @alwen hand work to my agents?

Yes. Free has 5 hand-offs a month to try it; Pro, Team and Business as many as you like. Research goes to Grok Bot; building goes to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or GitHub Copilot. Alwen tracks the job and reports back in the same Slack, Telegram or Discord conversation. How it works.

My tool isn't on the list.

Any tool that speaks MCP connects with the address on Tools in Alwen, or with a key. On Business, your company's own tools and agents can also take research and building from @alwen (how). Tell us which tool you use at [email protected] and we'll add it to the list.

Teams

How does a team work?

On Team or Business, create a team on the Team page and invite people with a link. Everyone in it gets the team's plan, keeps their own vault, tools and keys, and shares the team's vaults and its AI. The owner pays; the price is the same however many join. How teams work.

Can someone already on Free join my team?

Yes. They keep everything they connected, and have the team's plan while they're in it. If they leave, they go back to their own.

Who can invite and remove people?

The owner, and the admins the owner chooses. Only the owner makes admins; admins invite people and remove members. An invite link works once, for 14 days, and can be limited to one email.

Where do the shared vaults live?

Your choice for each one: kept by Alwen, or a private repository in your GitHub or your organization's. Team has three shared vaults, Business as many as you like. Everyone's tools read them next to their own vault, and team channels answer from them.

Can I see what Alwen did in my team?

Yes, the owner and admins have the team's log: what Alwen saved to the shared vaults and through which tool, its answers in team channels, the work it handed to agents, and who joined, left or changed what. On Business you can download it. Teammates' own vaults and private chats stay out of it.

Can we choose which tools read a vault?

On Business, yes: for each vault, every tool or only the ones you tick, like Claude and Cursor but not ChatGPT. Your own vault on Tools, each shared vault on the Team page.

Plans and billing

Is there a free plan?

Yes, free forever: one private vault, any two tools except Slack, a weekly tidy-up, and @alwen to try: 5 hand-offs to your agents and 50 answers from your notes each month.

What counts as a connected tool?

Each app you connect, like Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, Telegram or Discord — on Free, any two of them. Slack comes with Pro and up, because that's where @alwen lives. GitHub and Obsidian don't count.

Why isn't Alwen priced per seat?

Because a memory gets more useful the more people share it. Team is one price for your whole team, so invite everyone.

Will I pay for AI twice?

No. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex and Grok Bot do the work on your own subscriptions, as they do today; Alwen gives them one memory. Alwen's own AI, like the daily tidy-up and @alwen deciding who does what, is included: Free has 5 hand-offs and 50 answers a month, and each paid plan a monthly share. If a busy month uses it up, you can add more from $10. There are no token bills.

How can I pay?

By card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Prices are in US dollars, plus local tax where it applies.

Can I switch between monthly and yearly?

Yes. Yearly saves 20%. Change your plan or billing period from your account at any time.

What happens if I move to a smaller plan?

Nothing is deleted. What the smaller plan doesn't include pauses: the tools you connected first keep working, and the rest say why they're paused until you upgrade or disconnect one.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. A vault in your GitHub stays there with everything in it; a vault Alwen keeps, you can download first.
