Terms
The agreement for using Alwen, written to be read.
The service
Alwen gives your AI tools one shared memory, kept in your own GitHub or by Alwen for you, and an agent in Slack, Telegram and Discord that hands work to the tools you connect. These terms are between you and Alwen (“we”).
Your account
You sign in with Google or GitHub and you're responsible for what happens under your account. Keep that account secure; it's the key to your vault.
Your content
Your notes are yours. You give Alwen permission to read, index and change them only to run the service for you — answering your tools, tidying the vault and carrying out jobs you ask for.
Alwen never deletes a note on its own, only when you remove one. Everything it changes is a commit you can undo.
Acceptable use
- Don't use Alwen to break the law or to harm, harass or deceive people.
- Don't try to get into other people's vaults or disrupt the service.
- Follow the terms of the tools you connect; they apply alongside these.
Work done by your agents
@alwen decides and delegates; the tools you connect do the work. Review what they produce — pull requests, research, code — before you rely on it.
Plans, billing and cancelling
- Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly, in advance, in US dollars plus local tax where it applies. You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Prices are on Pricing.
- Cancel any time. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then moves to Free.
- Refunds: if Alwen isn't right for you, write to [email protected] within 14 days of your first payment for a plan and we'll refund it in full. After that, payments aren't refundable, but you can cancel at any time and keep your plan to the end of the period. Where the law where you live gives you more, you get that.
- Every plan includes a monthly share of Alwen's own AI: on Free, 5 hand-offs and 50 answers. AI top-ups add more; they're used after the month's share runs out and stay until they're used.
- On a smaller plan nothing is deleted; what it doesn't include pauses until you upgrade.
- We'll tell you at least 30 days before a price change applies to you.
Teams
- On Team and Business, the team's owner pays for the team's plan, and everyone in the team uses it while they're in it. The owner and the admins they choose invite and remove people.
- What you and your tools save to a team's shared vault is the team's: everyone in the team can read it, and the owner and admins can fix or remove it and see the team's log. Your own vault stays yours.
- If you leave or are removed, you go back to your own plan with your own vault; what you saved to the shared vaults stays there. A shared vault in your GitHub stays in your GitHub.
Availability
We work to keep Alwen running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted. No plan comes with an uptime guarantee (SLA) for now. If your team needs one, write to us.
Ending
You can stop using Alwen and delete your account at any time, on its Account page. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. Either way, a vault in your GitHub stays there; a vault Alwen keeps for you can be downloaded first, then it's deleted with your account.
Liability
Alwen is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no warranties beyond these terms, including that Alwen is fit for a particular purpose, uninterrupted or free of errors.
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about Alwen is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100, whichever is more.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer.
